Godzilla Store: Shinjuku
Shinjuku / Retail
Open 11am-9pm daily.

Everybody's favorite giant lizard now has his own retail shop, where you'll find a huge assortment of Godzilla-themed goods - everything from T-shirts and socks to rather nice bomber jackets. There's the expected selection of plastic toys and movie DVDs, but also umbrellas and cameras, watches and jewelry, and backpacks and tote bags from Japan's trendy Outdoor Products brand. Other popular characters like Mothra, Radon, King Ghidorah make guest appearances, and there's a corner devoted to Kurekure Tacora, a giant cartoon octopus who starred in a 1970s TV show.

While Godzilla is mostly represented in his fearsome image as rampaging destroyer of Tokyo infrastructure, you can also see his friendlier, more cuddly side in match-ups with Sanrio characters like Little Twin Stars and Hello Kitty. There are souvenirs and collectibles here in every price range, starting with the capsule-toy vending machines in front of the shop, and a lot of the products are limited-edition goods. The shop is located inside the Marui Annex department store, which seems to have reinvented itself as a massive multi-floor souvenir shop.
