The permanent collection here focuses mostly on contemporary and modern art by 20th-century Japanese artists, and the museum puts on temporary exhibitions covering a wide range of themes. Past shows have been about cats in ukiyoe prints, British Automata, the art of Edward Gorey, and the work of anime artist Shigeru Mizuki. Exhibitions typically show for one to two months.
