Standing on the site of the former British Consulate, this specialized museum is devoted to the history of the opening of the port of Yokohama to foreign trade, displaying a surprisingly large collection of models, drawings, maps and historical documents across several exhibition spaces in two buildings. In addition to the permanent exhibition there are four special shows every year.
